Information that we obtain automatically as a result of your visits to Viega websites

When you use or visit the web-based offerings of the Viega Group, your data is automatically collected by tracking technologies. Here you can find out:

  • How tracking works.
  • Why we use tracking (to guarantee security, provide our services, assess the success of advertising and improve it and collect statistics).

If you use or visit one of our websites or one of our web applications, we automatically collect data from you while this is happening. We use different tracking technologies for this purpose.

  • How does tracking work?

On the one hand, we collect data from users on our server. On the other, we collect data via cookies and similar tracking technologies on end devices. Cookies are small text files that are stored on users' end devices by a web server belonging to the website that the user is accessing. They provide information about the visit to the website and the time on site and collect data that the user enters on the website. Cookies cannot run programs or execute malicious code.

Viega uses session cookies to be able to identify you as a user of one of our applications. These cookies store a session ID that allows a variety of enquiries to be assigned to you. This enables your end device to be recognised when you use the Viega website or web application again. The session cookies are deleted when you log out.

  • The purpose of tracking and the options for blocking it
    Guarantee of security

The purpose of tracking is to guarantee and safeguard the legitimate interest of the user, the security of the user's data and the Viega websites and applications. We save the data we have collected for up to 90 days in their complete form. Only a few of our employees with the appropriate access rights can access these data. The legal basis for processing these personal data is Article 6 (1) (f) GDPR.

    Collecting statistics

We also use tracking technologies to collect statistics about the use of our offerings. The legal basis for processing these personal data is Article 6 (1) (f) GDPR. You have the option of blocking tracking activities carried out by third parties.

  • Adobe Analytics & Adobe Target

We use Adobe Analytics analysis software and Adobe Target personalisation software to collect statistical data about the use of Viega websites and apps and to improve and personalise our offerings accordingly.

Adobe Analytics is a statistics program that records usage data in anonymised or pseudonymised form and allows us to carry out a pseudonymised analysis of user behaviour.

This means that information transferred by your browser is collected and evaluated.

We use Adobe Target to carry out A/B and multivariate tests. In these tests, different versions of the website which differ in content or design are displayed. By comparing user behaviour for each version, we can identify which version elicits the best response from visitors to the website and improve our offerings based on this. We can also display context-dependent notes via Adobe Target and inform users of current activities and offerings.

None of the evaluations are personalised. All the data are anonymised or pseudonymised, which means that personal identifiers are replaced by a code with the aim of making it impossible or very difficult to identify the person in question.

IP addresses are anonymised immediately after being processed and before being stored by replacing the last octet of the IP address with zeros. This is done before geolocation so that only the approximate location of your end device can be identified. This approximate location is stored for statistical analysis but is not combined with your IP address.
